Glenfiddich 2007 Awards Commendation

Jim Budd, www.investdrinks.org

‘Over the past 15 years, the wine and whisky fields have been plagued by fraudulent investment schemes, which have cost individuals between £150 million and £200 million. Jim Budd, working via his editorship of ‘Circle Update’ (the journal of the Circle of Wine Writers) and his self-funded web site, has tirelessly tracked the companies and individuals involved, as well as covering ancillary fraud-related business failures in the wine and spirits area and other fraudulent investment schemes offered by those who have previously traded in wine and spirit investments.’

The Independent Spirit Award is ‘awarded at the judges’ discretion, in recognition of a piece of work which falls within no other category, or a progressive individual (newcomer or otherwise), or a campaign thought to have made an outstanding contribution towards widening the understanding and appreciation of food and drink in Britain.’
